Casting Decisions for Advertisement

For my advertisement I will play the actor who will appear in it.

This is because I feel it will be easier for myself to star in the advertisement instead of getting someone else to do it. This will then be more efficient for me because I will not have to rely anyone else and therefore the process of filming will be much quicker. Furthermore, I will be able to decide when I want to film instead of negotiating what days and times to film with someone else.

In addition, with having someone else act it could become difficult to portray your ideas to that person. Moreover, by having myself doing the acting, I will be able to recreate my storyboards and turn this into a successful piece of footage. However, there could be some difficulty filming as I may not be able to film everything I want, such as panning.

Budgeting Review

The budget for my advertisement will be £800. This money will be spent on the equipment hire which includes actors, tripods and cameras.

I found that the Nikon DSLR cameras were much more expensive compared to the Canon DSLR cameras. Taking into account the two brands and the different prices that go with it, I am going to hire the Canon EOS 1100D camera due to the fact that it is the cheapest camera to hire for 2 weeks at £98 out of them all including the £85 deposit, which brings the total to £183.

I had a range of different tripods from all different brands and the cheapest one I found was the Libec TH950/650/H22 tripod which will cost £12 a day. If I use this for the two weeks that I anticipate to film for, this tripod will cost me £168. The reasoning behind my decision is once again the cost, all these tripods that I researched would all be useful to me but I will need to keep my eye on my budget.

The price to hire a Mac Pro with Final Cut and Avid software for the editing process would cost £38 but to hire a MacBook Pro Laptop with Final Cut 7 and Avid Media Composer 6 would cost £25 so I have decided to go for the cheapest option which is the latter.

I found that hiring actors are very expensive, even for a small time period. For instance, an actor may charge around £250- £600 and even an extra could charge £90 a day for their services.

The total to hire all these pieces of equipment comes to £626. With my total budget being £800 I will have £174 left over.

Advertisment Animatic

This video has my three ideas for my advertisement which have been made into animatics.

This whole piece of footage has all three of my animatics.

The first animatic is about a boy who was once bullied but with the help of a anti-bullying helpline, he can now face the bullies. This message is portrayed through the footage of the boy walking through the school corridors and he sees the bullies but he manages to walk past them with confidence.

The second animatic follows a boy who is being cyber-bullied and he receives a text from a bully and he decides to lock himself in his room and hid. However, one day he gets a text from a anti-bullying helpline and the texts refers him to a website where he can report the bully. Then his mood changes and this is vindicated by the music. He then faces the outside and leaves his house and starts walking down the road.

Lastly, the third animatic is a talking head style of advertisement. The people in the advertisement will be expressing their bullying experiences and how they overcame them.
