Budgeting

As well as planning my advertisement there are some fundamental things that have to be done before I even contemplate filming it. I will have to have an idea on the prices for a range of things like the equipment that I will need to use but also the price of hiring actors for my advert. I will conduct comprehensive research to find out the cost of the following:
  • To hire equipment such as a camera/ tripod
  • Location hire
  • Talent hire
  • Editing hire
This research will have to be completed a long time before I start the filming process as I will have to have knowledge on the best prices for each one.

I have researched a variety of different cameras and their prices and these are my results.

I have found a range of different prices for Canon DSLR cameras which vary in price. However I also researched Nikon DSLR cameras to give me the opportunity to compare the two styles and the prices as well.

In addition, I will have to hire a tripod in order to stabilise the camera and it will therefore create a better quality of shot. This is what my research consisted of:

I also researched how much it would cost to hire editing software like a Mac Pro. These are my findings:

After this, I researched the cost to hire an actor to appear in my advert and these are the results:

This piece of research was very difficult to find but I managed to get some figures on how much an actor would cost.
Lastly, I researched the cost to hire a location. I intend to film my advert in my local high school but I was unsuccessful in my attempts to find quotes on the price to hire some rooms. However, I have managed to find some prices to hire rooms at different schools.

I am hoping that these prices to hire in two different schools are very similar to the cost to hire in my local high school and if so, it is a very reasonable price which is manageable.

Music Video (2)- Final Version

This is the completed version of my final music video. I believe that this music video is a success due to the editing being sharp and quick to the beat and this gives the music video an exciting feel to it. There are areas to improve within this music video. The majority of the shots are in an alley and I think the music video would be even better if there was a wider range of locations. In addition, the artists are wearing similar clothes in a lot of the shots, once again the music video can be improved if the artists wore different clothes.

There are also a lot of effects that have been used in this music video. For instance the green screen, I had to use an effect on Adobe Premiere Pro called 'Ultra Key' and this would allow me to add any background to the green screen, so I chose a clock because the whole music video is about time (Don't Waste My Time). I also used another effect called 'Warp Stabiliser' which would make some shots that were shaky more stable. Furthermore, at the start and end of the music video I used a fade effect on the footage to make it look more professional.

Footage of Using the Planning Documents to Run a Shoot/Edit 2

This is evidence that we used our planning documents when editing our footage. By doing this, it made the process of editing the work much easier because we already knew what we intended to do and all we had to do was act on this.

Description of Rushes Log

The rushes log is a table made up of information regarding the footage that me and my group created. Within this table there was the following information:
  • Shot type
  • Description of footage
  • Duration of footage
  • Evaluation of footage, whether it was good or poor pieces of footage.
With this detailed table, I could then decide how effective my footage was and what kind of shots I needed for future filming sessions in order to make the music video successful. Furthermore, when evaluating how effective the pieces of footage were, I could then learn from these poor pieces of footage and then make sure I did not repeat this,
